(Church of Sweden, 30 October 2016) "We are now ready to state publicly that Catholics and Lutherans are on their way from conflict to communion, and that we share what is most important: the gospel of Jesus Christ. That message is what we are going to give flesh tomorrow in Lund Cathedral and Malm� Arena." These are the words of Archbishop Antje Jackel�n on the occasion of the Vatican and the Lutheran World Federation under the heading of The Joint Commemoration commemorating the 500th anniversary of the Reformation in Lund and Malm� tomorrow.

The response of Christians to refugees, migrants and internally displaced people will be at the heart of the historic ecumenical events taking place in Sweden on Monday to mark the forthcoming 500th anniversary of the Reformation.

Caritas Internationalis and the Lutheran World Federations charitable arm are jointly preparing a key event in Swedens Malm� arena as part of the October 31st anniversary of the Reformation.

Pope Francis visit to Sweden for a joint ecumenical commemoration of the Reformation is a big step forward because Catholics and Lutherans are "no longer defining themselves in opposition to each other", but in communion with one another.

In the face of widespread global conflicts, Pope Francis visit to the Swedish cities of Lund and Malm� for a joint commemoration of the Reformation will be a sign of hope to a divided and suffering world. That's the view of Rev, Martin Junge, General Secretary of the World Lutheran Federation.

Pope Francis will join people from all over the world in celebration of the ecumenical developments of the Catholic and Lutheran Churches. The event takes place 31 October in southern Sweden. The celebration will be divided into two, one in a cathedral in Lund and one for 10,000 people in a sports arena in Malm�.

(LWI October 24, 2016)  Olympic athlete and refugee Rose Nathike Lokonyen will be one of the speakers at the Joint Lutheran-Catholic Commemoration in Sweden on 31 October. At Malm� arena, four people will offer testimonies. One of them is Rose Nathike Lokonyen, a 23-year-old refugee from South Sudan. Rose and her family fled to the Kakuma refugee camp in Kenya when she was eight. Since the age of 14, she has been the head of household for five younger siblings.

The LWF Colombia program and Caritas Colombia have supported survivors of the 2002 Bojay� church massacre through a court case. This is one of several peace initiatives the two organizations have jointly worked on since 2009.
